Let's talk about all these size descriptions that are getting tossed around these days. Anyone can say anything about the size of their cows but let's talk facts about it!
There are four size classifications of cattle; Micro, Miniature, Mid and Standard. These sizes are based on hip height at 3 years old (note they do tend to grow a little more after that).
When you are looking to purchase a cow you want height measurements of both of the parents at 3 years of age. We like to ask for pictures of the moos next to a measurement tool. These measurements should be taken on the height of the rump.
